I haven't blogged for a while and I just thought that since my degree course has now ended and I'm now a graduate, I thought sharing what I've been up to would be nice for you to see.
For the Degree Show I had 2 weeks to develop a project that engages with the audience as they browse around. Fortunately I had come across a technique during the development of my Barnbrook Poster that uses your mobile phone to see whatever I design. But the problem I faced was to choose a theme that would be emotionally engaging for the audience. It did take a while of decisions and doubts about ideas, but eventually coming to the concept of Cyber Bullying.
I have experienced this kind of abuse when I was younger, so I knew that in a space of years the style of bullying would have developed a new style of language. Coming from a new generation of children this type of language would become more harsh. Bearing this in mind I set myself upon creating text messages containing a message that would get the point of cyber bullying across.
The idea behind the design of the campaign is that the 'pattern' is made up of repeating the shape of a heart; the heart is a representation of affection and kindness. So for the posters with the harsh messages hidden behind the repeat pattern, they represent the 'friends' that may be kind to your face, but underneath, never cared.
The 'pattern' knocks out the message to the eye, but when you hold your mobile phone to the artwork you then see the message. With the images now on your phone, you are then able to sympathise with the victim and see how they feel when they receive the abuse such as this.
In hindsight for the project, I think I could've pushed the campaign further. There were quite a lot of people that took out there mobile phones to test it to see if it could work, and as they were able to see the message it became clearer about the project. I just wish I had got a photo of the audience engaging with my work. Plus I think the free posters also helped draw the crowd.

Taras Lesko
A Graphic Designer, Creative Director and a Visual Spice Master?
Taras is a designer that has a passion for creating things with his hands.
He was working on Forza Motorsport 3, a racing simulation video game on the Xbox 360, but after being surrounded by cars and car fanatics on a daily basis, it resulted in building a papercraft model of an Audi R8, specifically styled to the game’s brand and visual design.
The finished model was very well received by Turn 10 Studios and immediately featured on the Forza Motorsport blog.
With the success of having Forza Motorsport notice his talent, Taras created his own bold vision for the Audi A7. After starting this project with 285 clean sheets of paper, using photos and drawings as reference, he designed 750 model pieces out of card stock, which he then printed, folded and glued together.
Measuring 4ft x 2ft x 2ft, it is on display at the new york auto show 2011. This all-paper rendition of the 2012 Audi A7 is the largest papercraft model of a vehicle ever produced.
You can see both videos here.

IMS Euro Ltd
Since the beginning of January, I have been working with the staff at IMS Euro Ltd to help them update their brochure. They are a family run supplier of non-pharmaceutical medical products to the ever growing world-wide medical community. From working on the brochure led to creating a large-scale backdrop for their stand at the BSAVA 2011 exhibition, and they would like me to help them with any future changes to the brochure and promotional material.
I was approached by Karen Shamot and mostly worked with her son, Nick on this project.
Initially I was hesitant to take it on, because I mainly wanted to focus my energy on my Final Major Project, seeing as this would count heavily towards my degree. But I guess reluctantly I chose to take it on.
I think that this has been a great experience working with such a friendly company, who now considers me one of their, 'clan' so to speak, so I'm happy with that.
